Troubleshooting on Ethernet Switch
My link negotiates at 100 Mbps instead of 1 Gbps.
Gigabit requires all 4 twisted pairs. Damaged cables, wrong crimping, or passive splitters will force 100Mbps. Replace with Cat5e/Cat6 cables and ensure proper terminations (T568B/A).
Will a splitter reduce my internet speed?
It depends on your usage. This splitter shares the total bandwidth (up to 1000Mbps) from the single source port between the two or more connected devices. If both devices are simultaneously performing high-bandwidth activities (like 4K streaming or large downloads), the available speed for each device may be reduced as they share the connection. For most everyday tasks, this reduction is often negligible.
Is the product compatible with PoE?
No. This is a standard Ethernet splitter and is not compatible with PoE (Power over Ethernet). Connecting it to a PoE power source may damage the device. If you require both splitting and PoE functionality, please use a splitter or switch specifically designed for PoE.
